Crochet Kick!

Feb 27th, 2009
The past week or so I've been on a crochet kick. I had to finish up crocheting something for an upcoming web-letter, so I was forced into picking up a hook again. Of course, once I did I remembered (again) how much I really love crocheting. Last weekend I must have crocheted the same swatch about 5 times in various yarns and altering it slightly each time. I now have 3 design submissions ready to send to Interweave Crochet. I haven't submit anything there in quite a while.

I've realized (again) that crochet, for me, is such a faster method of creation than knitting is. There was one point during the weekend when I couldn't find the cloth kerchief I usually wear to keep my dreads away from my face while working... so, I pulled out a ball of yarn from my stash and crocheted one up in an hour or so. Since then, I've made 2 others using the same pattern but different yarns. (I'm keeping it slightly hush-hush for the time being. You'll see them soon, pattern and all.)

This hat also happened. I love this stitch pattern, but I think I need to fix the shaping at the top. I'm not sure I like it much.

I generally consider myself a knitter, but this past week I can relate so much more to crochet, and my creativity only wants to flow out of me through that medium. At first I resisted diving into crochet—because I really need to get some knit designs out for a project I'm working on—but if crochet is what is flowing, then I had better let it. Who knows what will come of it!

During this mornings yoga, in savasanah, I started seeing visions of crochet motifs. They were really inspiring.

On the hook right now, I have a lace yoga mat cozy. Once I figure out what to do about a strap I'll take some photos. Hopefully it won't be another 2 weeks before you hear from me again...

I know... (slaps hand) bad blogger.
Enjoy today!

Knitty!

Feb 13th, 2009
Hey!

This may be old news to you... but I wanted to be sure you all know about the Montera Cabled Jacket in Knitty.

If you haven't already seen it, you totally should! It's such a great sweater, in a beautiful yarn.

Happy Knitting!
::heart::
~Kristen~ :)
