New & Improved - Stormy Top October 13, 2021 23:59

The things we do when we’re just starting out aren’t often the best. In fact, they’re the stepping stones that have helped us get to where we are.

The Stormy Top pattern was the very first pattern I self-published, back in 2006. I’ve learned a TON in the last 15 years about pattern writing, editing, layout and publishing a pattern, and I couldn’t bare to continue selling that pattern in its original form.

Back then, it was called the Stormy Vest, and it was written for a limited number of sizes, and only as a cropped vest (shown above). Over the years there have been many inquiries about how to make it into a full-length vest, or add sleeves. So I took those requests into consideration as I revised the pattern.

In this 2021 version of the pattern, there are more sizes and the option to make it full length or cropped, and I’ve added sleeve instructions for anyone who’d like a complete sweater. It’s now a versatile pattern that may be used to create a variety of different projects. It’s a pattern you’ll use more than once, in different ways.

I kept the original seamed construction. Because the lace panels on the front and back are different, the pattern lends well to being worked in separate pieces and seamed. And I like the idea of keeping the pattern as I originally intended, back before I was focused on seamless constructions.

As with all my new self-published patterns, Patreon patrons get this pattern for free for the first month it's available. This offer ends October 31, 2021.

The Autumn Field Socks pattern is also still available free to patrons, so that's 2 patterns (worth $14) for the $5 membership cost.
