Welcome to my collection of free patterns. In an effort to make many of my patterns more financially accessible, these are free to view online, with the option to purchase the PDF of the pattern at whatever cost works for you.

Or if you wish to balance the time, energy and experience these patterns used to be created, I invite you to consider leaving a small tip on Ko-fi, or become one of my Patreon supporters (who I lovingly call "my stitches") for $5/month to access a larger collection of my patterns.

More patterns are gradually being added. You're invited to join my newsletter to be notified of new free patterns via email.

Hasta Mitts - Free Pattern August 20, 2022 15:21

Hasta Mitts

The Hasta Mitts are knit from the fingers to the wrist, beginning with Seed stitch. Stitches are cast on for the thumb gusset, then the thumb gusset is shaped by increasing at the center of the thumb cast-on sts and decreasing on the opposite side of the mitt. Slowly the Seed stitch is decreased and the increased stitches are worked in Stockinette stitch until all the stitches are in Stockinette stitch. There are some short rows worked at the lower edge to make the lower edge straight across. These can be omitted for a diagonal edge.

River of Life Socks - Free Pattern April 29, 2022 11:43

River of Life Socks

This stitch pattern is one of my favorites. The way it is made—by increasing stitches at the edges, then decreasing them in the center—reminds me of how everything in life comes and goes—birth and death—and that the cycle is continuous and always beginning and ending at the same time. This technique, combined with knit and purl stitches creates a beautiful wave-like effect, and together with the blue yarn it reminds me of a flowing river—thus we have, the river of life—in sock form.

Sigyn's Bowl - Free Pattern March 13, 2022 16:22

In the Norse myths, Sigyn (SIG-in) is the wife of Loki, who is bound to a stone where a snake will eternally drip venom onto him. Sigyn stands over him with a bowl, collecting the venom until it’s full, then empties it and does it again, and again, and again…

The loyalty, endurance and compassion she has is respectable and something I wish to cultivate more of in my own life. Even in the midst of being traumatized herself by witnessing what was done to her sons and husband, she is still compelled to help take away the suffering of others.

This pattern will make a small, shallow felted bowl. Gauge, yarn and needle size are not critical for this design. Choose what you like!
