The Alice Hoodie Knit Along starts July 15th! July 8, 2016 06:00
I was feeling silly the night the Alice Hoodie was inspired. I swatched it in a single-ply bulky yarn, and tentatively named it "Squishy Wishy." I posted on twitter asking people if they would knit something with that name. I was surprised—people seemed pretty open to it. So I kept that title as I mailed the submission to Knitscene…
And now, here it is! We decided to use O-Wool's Local yarn for the finished sweater, which I think still lives up to it's Squishy Wishy namesake!
Below is a little more about this sweater and yarn, and at the bottom is some KAL info. We cast-on together on July 15, 2016 (next Friday)! Please join us!
About the Pattern:
The body and sleeves are knit separately from the bottom up to the underarms. They are joined together and the yoke is decreased as a raglan. There are cable panels worked on the fronts and a cable and garter ridge panel in the center of the back.
Hood stitches are picked up around the neckline, and the back cable and garter ridge panel is knit up and over the top of the hood. The buttonband stitches are picked up and knit in garter stitch, and the underarm stitches are joined using a three-needle bind-off. And that's it! Completely seamless.
About the Yarn:
Amy Palmer (the former Knitscene editor) and I choose O-Wool's Local yarn for the Alice Hoodie. It's 50% organic merino and 50% alpaca from American farms in New Jersey and Pennsylvania! It knits up fast, has a great drape and feels great next to my skin. The single-ply of this yarn gives it great stitch definition!
About the Knit Along (KAL):
KAL's are a ton of fun. If you're unfamiliar with them, I'll explain: In a thread on Ravelry, a bunch of knitters get together to knit the same sweater. We chat about what we experience and share pictures of our projects. There are often prizes given by the host. In the Alice Hoodie KAL I have 8 prizes to give away to knitters at various times throughout the KAL, and a grand prize.
This KAL begins on July 15, 2016—meaning that is the day everyone will cast on! If you're interested, sign up now, and you can begin gathering your supplies and doing gauge swatching before the official start date (next Friday). It ends on October 1, 2016. If your hoodie is finished by this date you're eligible to win the grand prize!
