New Summer Dotterel pattern May 4, 2026 12:02
It's been about three years since I've published anything new, so I'm really excited to share this new Summer Dotterel pattern with you all. It's a short-sleeved, adult version of the Little Dotterel (child) sweaters that were previously published.
It's a simple-to-knit sideways sweater with minimal shaping. The body begins with a provisional cast on at the center back and front. It is worked outward, with some neck increases and shoulder decreases, toward one sleeve. The side of the body is joined with the three-needle bind off leaving the sleeve stitches to be worked in the round to the cuff.
The provisional stitches are picked up and the other side of the sweater is worked the same as the first. Stitches are picked up evenly around the collar and lower edge and some ribbing is worked to finish it off.
I used Baby Cotton by Lang yarns, which is a 100% cotton yarn that has lots of beautiful colors to choose from and results in a sweater with a beautiful drape and softness to it.
The pattern can be viewed online by TKGA members in their Cast-on Magazine.
