Encircled Giveaway! September 30, 2017 07:22 25 Comments
The newest collection of patterns from Knit Picks, Encircled, is now available! In it you'll find 10 colorwork yoke pullovers, including my Spanra Pullover. I also really love the Baldrun Pullover and Phased Yoke Pullover by Kerin Dimeler-Laurence and Sunwheels Pullover by Deepika
About the Spanra Pullover:
The body and sleeves of the Spanra Pullover are knit from the bottom up to the underarms, where they are joined for the yoke. The whole sweater is knit in the round on circular needles or dpns, with a few short-rows worked just below the colorwork on the yoke to raise up the back neckline.
Although the colorwork pattern appears to be complex, it's pretty simple, using traditional fair isle techniques and only 2 colors per round.
The solid color sections knit up quickly, as they're worked entirely in Stockinette stitch. There is waist and bust shaping on the body, and increase rounds on the sleeves to keep things somewhat interesting, while still being mindless enough to work on while watching something more engaging or participating in being social.
Giveaway!
Knit Picks sent me 2 copies of the printed Encircled book, so I'm giving one away for FREE to a lucky blog reader. All you have to do is leave a comment below before Friday to enter.

I’d knit this beautiful item in natural, earthy shades with oatmeal for the main and darker shades of brown and then some rust.

I would love to start a project from this new book of patterns!

I’d use deep shades of blue, some cream, and some cranberry!

I’ve been looking for a winter jumper to knit and Spanra is definitely top of the list. I was thinking shades of blue with a yellow ‘pop’.
Off to spend time mooching colour options.

I’ve never done any colorwork, but your designs make me want to start! What beautiful work!

Gorgeous pullover! I think I’d use a teal with burgundy, aqua and white for the colorwork.

Great design! In KnitPicks Wool of the Andres Superwash, I would choose Indigo Heather for the main body color (which is darker than the Amethyst Heather I think that I see here) and for the four (I think) accent colors, I’d choose Marina for the center yoke, along with Persimmon Heather (deeper gold on my screen), and White … In general, my goal would be to get a more intensely hued result. Thanks for the giveaway!

How lovely!! I’m just finding the courage to branch out into sweater-knitting. This seems like a good place to start. I would use charcoal gray, pink and black for my sweater. In knit-pick’s silk blend yarn. So yummy!

The designs are so beautiful!! I would make a hunter or emerald green sweater body, and colors in the yoke would absolutely include a mustard yellow, a midnight blue, and a plum purple.

These designs are beautiful. This would be a great opportunity to knit my first colorwork yoke pullover!

I think I’d make it in black, with white and gray colorwork, to make it a bit more graphic!

So pretty!!!

I like the colors as shown. If I had to pick different colors, maybe Lava Heather for MC and then Semolina, Blossom Heather, Papaya Heather, Green Tea Heather, and Oyster Heather for the CCs? I’m not sure though. What do you think of those colors? I’m trying to develop color skills.

Gloria on October 2, 2017 18:36
I’d stick with purple, and maybe blues, greys and black.
